Hey Guys, Cari here and I’m reporting on E3 2017 after returning from L.A. I don’t have a ton to report this year but here are my first impressions of the things that I saw. Day one I got to see Natsume’s booth, DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT, and Marvel versus Capcom. (I saw many things including gaming setups and technology and there were a ton of games showcased this year, these are what I got my hands on). Day two was very light, I played Super Mario Odyssey and Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, and watched Chris play some Knack II. Day three I played Lego Dimensions and Sonic Forces.Read More
Hi everyone! I hope you all have had a good week and have enjoyed Chris's coverage of E3. I was excited to see lots of stuff that Nintendo has coming up for the next year. I didn't really thing that I was going to be interested in the Breath of the Wild downloadable content, but the "Trial of the Sword" actually looks very interesting. On the other hand, I have essentially no desire to try playing the game in Hard Mode; the game is already pretty hard. The Hero's Path seems like a bit of a gimmick, but might still be fun to use anyways.
Super Mario Odyssey is looking like a fun game as well, and I've enjoyed watching Twitter joking about the how Mario takes over other people's bodies. Including joke about Mario taking over the body of an average business person on the street while they are talking to their spouse.
Last on my cool E3 news list is the announcement of Metroid Prime: 4. At this point, we don't know anything about the game, but I'm hopeful that returning to the Prime series will be a magnificent rebirth for the Metroid series. I heard such bad things about the most recent games, that I didn't even give them a chance. I'm hoping that things will be better for this game. In the end, I'm cautiously optimistic for this new game.
That's all I've got for now. Have a great week and game on!
No trip to E3 is complete with a nice mix of photos. And while the booth babes of years gone past don't really make a showing, the booths themselves are always pretty awesome.
The photos can also be found on the photo floor page.
OK, disclaimer at the start of this, I am a fan of the Metroid series. I won't say I am biggest fan, but a fan none-the-less. So the fact that this E3 was meet with not one, but two Metroid titles, pure 100% awesome!Read More
Mario Odyssey of the newest entry in the long line of games about a plumber that I don't think actually has any plumbing experience. And, if memory serves, the first new 3D version of the game since Mario Galaxy 2 . In this have Bowser has, unpredictability, kidnapped Princess Peach! I know, such a plot twist. This time he has even sent it wedding invites though. But he made a grave mistake, he pissed off a magic top hat! Sure Bowser has perfected his plan on stopping Mario, but Mario with a magic hat? Doom has arrived on Bowser's door stop. Or at least it will once Mario and Cappy (the aforementioned hat) have finished gathering a band for his old girlfriend, Paulina.Read More
Capcom had a showing of the newest entry in the MvC universe, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite . The booth had two ways to play, versus mode and the full story. The full story takes about 30 minutes to run through, so their is a little substance there. The versus mode was the popular draw, although this may have been due to the faster line. Cari and I went head to head in a one round match. The gameplay was quick with here making heavy use of here infinity stone to keep me close to her preventing me from using ranged attacks. The game was fun and I look forward to the full relase when it comes out.
Co-op + platformer is an ancient combination. The earliest on I remember playing was the first Toe Jam and Earl for the Sega Genesis. Since then it has been done and done again. As such it can be hard to make good on any new entry in the genre. But Knack 2 seems to do a decent job.Read More
Watched the Monster Hunter World gameplay demo at the PlayStation booth. It was an impressive demo. It started on a single player mode showcasing how to track monsters given a little information. On this case we were told to search for mucus that identified the creature's territory. From their special tracking flies were able to find more mucus, and eventually our monster. This feature looks like it can greatly reduced the time searching and increase the time fighting.Read More
Last night was the Playstation E3 2017 Conference. This conference was much different from the other presentations. Instead of having someone on the stage talking things up they let the games speak for themselves. It was essentially an intro followed by a bunch of trailers followed by a closing short speach. So what all did they show?Read More
OK, Ubisoft's turn on the stage. And they started out with the crazy rabbits teasing the partnership between Nintendo and Ubisoft with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battles. Of course who better to share the announcement then Miyamoto. The game is a tactical turn-based adventure battle that involves hand held cannons. Can you save the Mushroom Kingdom from the rappids that accidentally invaded your dimension?Read More
