Coffee First off, I would like to apologize to any recurring readers (the whole 2) for the severe lacking of the Comic-Con Diaries. I regret to admit I was far to busy digging through back issue boxes and testing my intoxication limits to get anything written. I would also apologize to my editor for not providing said content as promised. I would then finally apologize for getting up right now to get a refill on my coffee cup. Mmmmm, Black Gold, in its purest form. Scalding hot, black, and so strong it wakes before you do and slaps you around a bit while you're still sleeping. That's the coffee people need when there's an all night World of Warcraft session to be had, or a term paper to be written 5 hours before it due, or when a power mad Editor and Chief of a small but well done Video Game review site demands content or he'll raise the rent. Not Starbucks though. 90% of what Starbucks sells anymore isn't coffee. Well, not real coffee. Real coffee comes from all night dinners, and has probably been heating on a burner since before you woke up that day. Real coffee comes from that little machine that sits in the corner gathering dust while you sit there drinking a Mocha frappe low fat with whipped cream and sprinkles. Real coffee doesn’t have whip cream on it, and it sure as hell doesn't have sprinkles! And real coffee never costs more then whatever change is floating in your average couch. (Except for Expensive Coffee, that stuff we see in catalogs or on the internet that has been hand picked by virgin maidens or something.) Sure that coffee tasting liquid you're drinking isn't bad, I've been known to suck down a few myself on occasion, but that doesn't mean its coffee. Real coffee is made from beans, freshly ground if you're lucky, and water, or more coffee if something has to absolutely, positively get finished overnight. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're on a serious deadline though, which reminds me, I still haven't gotten my refill yet. |
