This Weeks Geek - Time or Money

Curse you video game industry. The majority of your blockbuster hits all seem to come out around the same time. I know that the holiday season is important to make sales, but would it be possible to spread things out a little more? I am still working on Borderlands 2 and Fable: The Journey. Then Assassin's Creed III just came out last week which I have barley played. Now Halo 4 comes out tomorrow, which due to the fantastic job Microsoft did with Forward Unto Dawn mini series I am actually more excited about then I was before. I don't have the time to get and play all these great games.

Sure it is a great time to be a gamer. We were just given Dishonored. We have Hitman: Absolution on the horizon. Nintendo is introducing a new console in few weeks. Even the broke gamer is in an era of unprecedented choice with so many good free-play-games that have either been released or are currently in beta (looking at you Planetside 2 and Mechwarrior  Online). We have so much choice available to us that it is no longer a matter of what to play, but when to play it! That brings us to the issue at hand though. To play most of these games to their fullest you need two things, time and money. Yes even the free to plays need some money, such as a subscription to a decent internet connection. Unfortunately in order to get money you need to invest time. So the more money you have to acquire the AAA games out this season means you have less time to play them. If you have all the time you need to play them that means you don't have the money to buy all of them. And that brings us to the eternal quandary of this existence. What do you sacrifice, time or money?
