Hello everyone! Guess who managed to meet his deadlines this week and has now finished a substantial portion of his project load! This guy. Which means I should have plenty of time this weekend to be a geek. And I should finally be able to review some of the books that I've been reading in preparation for my trip to TCAF. Anyways, read on my for my weeks geeky activities.
Playing: All that I've managed to find time for this week was a few minutes of Fantasy Life before going to bed a few nights this week. Sorry folks, but I've really been that busy.
Watching: I watched a few episodes of Ben-To this week. Which is a rather funny series in terms of dramatizing some students struggles to get discounted boxed lunches at their local grocery store. The show does tend somewhat towards fan-service, but it isn't as raunchy as some other serials that Crystal and I have tried out over the past month. Overall, the characters are fun and a bit zany, with good comedic dialogue and timing.
Reading: This week I read How to Be Happy by Eleanor Davis, another of the featured guests for TCAF this year. I'll have a more detailed review up in the next few weeks, but here are my thoughts in brief: this is a poignant collection of short comics that have a subtle nod towards the fantastical.
In addition to my usual activities, I attended Nerd Nite Denver this week. I've been trying to get to one of these events for about 6 months now, and finally managed to do it. This month there were presentations about the general methods for stand-up comedy, some important notes about why you should go to see a dentist regularly, and the ins and outs of backyard chickens. I had a lot of fun going to this with my friends, and am looking forward to the next event.
That's all I've got for this week, but I hope to see you again soon. Have a great week, and game on!
