The WATCH_DOGS Are Coming

Today Ubisoft announced that WATCH_DOGS is slated for release on November 19 for the 360, Wii U, PC, PS3 and PS4. And with that I give you fancy new trailer. In it we get a bit more background on our protagonist, Aiden Pearce. Enjoy.

Oh yeah, and Gamestop pre-orders get a poster designed by Alex Ross, a famed comic artist.

Dead Space 3 Demo

Christmas may be over but EA is giving gamers a belated holiday gift. As of January 22, 2013 you can get a demo of Dead Space 3 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 via there respective networks. Although if you are a 360 owner you have the option of going to and signing up for early beta access (while supplies last, expires 1/14/2013 @ 11:59 PM PST, stupid lawyer speak). The demo not only includes the new planet that you crashed on, which is of course teaming with Necromorphs, but it allows you to play co-op as either the reluctant Issac Clarke or the new character Sergeant John Carver. Wow, someone for the military is actually stepping to help this time. What radical thinking? If you find the game to be what you are looking for then look forward to the full game on February 5th in North America for the 360, PS3, and PC. If you are in Europe then don't worry, you only have to wait until February 8th.

Wii U Launch Information

And the battle for the Wii U can officially begin on November 18, 2012. You have two differently priced options for this system, they are as follows:

  • Wii U Basic Bundle - $299.99
    • White System
    • 8 GB of Internal Storage
    • 1 White GamePad
    • AC Adapters for both the Wii U and GamePad
    • Sensor Bar
  • Wii U Deluxe Bundle - $349.99
    • Black System
    • 32 GB of Internal Storage
    • 1 Black GamePad
    • AC Adapters for both the Wii U and GamePad
    • Console Stand
    • GamePad Charging Cradle
    • Nintendo Land Game
    • Deluxe Digital Promotion
      • Grants points for digital downloads when can be used for future DLC (planned through 2014).

There you have it, two different systems with two different price points. I honestly don’t see the reason someone will get the Basic bundle over the Deluxe one, but that just means that I am not the target audience of it. They also announced that there will be around 50 games in the launch windows (11/18/2012 - 03/31/2013) for the system to try and make it worthwhile for those early adopters.  Games are going to run around $59.99 each for the Wii U at launch as well. More to come later on which games are planned to come out in this window, but it looks pretty strong, or at least interesting.

That leaves me with two questions.
1) Can Nintendo repeat the success they had with the Wii?
2) Who out there is going to try for a day one (or two) purchase?

Nintendo Press Conference Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the day that Reggie fills us in with the official release date and price point of the Wii U here in North America. The press conference starts at 10:00 AM ET and will be live streamed from here.

Now this starts just in time for me to clock in to my day job, so I will be a tad late on reporting the news to you all, but rest assured it will make its way here.

Random Rumors - Wii U Leak

The rumors have started to hit full force for the holiday gaming season. To start things off we, have a possible release date on the Nintendo Wii U along with price point before the 09/13 press event. The rumor goes that the system will launch Sunday, November 11, 2012. This would be about right for Nintendo. A weekend sale just before the full Christmas season starts.

Next in the leak was three different SKUs for the Wii U. One at $250, $300, and $350. These numbers are based on a leaked shot from YouTube user H0undd0gg. This seems to be the sketchiest part of the rumor to me, but lets work with what we have.  If you want to inspect the video it can be found here (The video has been removed).

All three systems are pretty similar in name, but lets guess what the differences could be.  I see the $250 model being the base with a system and one Wii Pad. The $300 will add a Wiimote and nunchuck (wow I have not typed that in a long time) and more onboard storage. The $350 will add a second Wii Pad. Looking forward to confirming or breaking this rumor next week.

Quantum DLC

Square Enix has announced the two promised DLC packs for Quantum Conundrum. The first DLC title "The Desmond Debacle" will be released first on Steam starting 07/31/2012, then PSN on 08/14/2012 and finally XBLA on 08/15/2012. In this DLC you will be tasked with solving puzzles created by Desmond the drinking bird in a new section of Quadrangle Manor. How a drinking bird managed to create puzzles I have no clue, but this was an invention by Professor Quadrangle. It will run about $2.99 or 250 Microsoft Points.

The second DLC pack that will available on Steam starting 08/28/2012, PSN 09/11/2012, and XBLA 09/12/2012 will the "IKE-aramba!". In this you must once again embark on a rescue mission, but this time for IKE (Interdimensional Kinetic Entity) instead of your uncle. Not sure how a creature that can jump from one dimension to another gets trapped, but we can probably blame the professor again on this one. Just the the other DLC it will run $2.99 or 240 Microsoft points.

Gears of War: Judgement Release Date

has given us a release date for Gears of War: Judgement. They are going to release it in March of 2013. Of course that is assuming that the game does not get delayed to add polish or to fix multiplayer after a beta test. But that is 7 months from now. If you cannot wait till then for your Gears fix then just plug Gears of War 3 back in, that should hold you over till then.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has Christmas Release

So they have announced the release date of Star Wars: The Old Republic.  It will be coming out December 20, 2011 for North America.  Do you think they have it close enough to Christmas?  Well, if you are in Europe, it is a bit closer with December 22, 2011.  Along with the release they have announced the subscription model:

  • 1 Month - $14.99 Per Month
  • 3 Month - $13.99 Per Month ($41.97 at time of charge)
  • 6 Month - $12.99 Per Month ($77.94 at time of charge)

So there you have it.  And if you have pre-ordered the game be sure to enter your code at  This will give you your early access to the game.

May the Force be With You.

Zelda: Skyward Sword Release Date

Curses, I was off by 18 days when we guessed the release date of the new Zelda game. But that is bound to happen even to the best of us. The release date for Zelda: Skyward Sword is officially set for November 20, 2011. So that means now I actually have time to play Skirim, even if it is only 8 days.
