The genre that most of us played during our childhood. Running, jumping, and falling into bottomless pits is how many of us game into gaming. While this genre has seen a slight fall in the number of games, it is still vital to gaming. Our nominees for Best Platformer of 2011 are:
Rayman Origins
Super Mario Bros 3D Land
Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One
Little Big Planet 2
Spyro: Skylanders
The award this year goes to Rayman Origins. This was a majority vote, one that I did not make and therefore needed IrishPride to expand on why it won this year. Maybe I can rope him into updating this for me?

The main reason Rayman Originswon best platformer is because it had everything you want in a platformer. The level designs were fantastic, they all felt fresh and kept you engaged. The artistic style is nothing short of amazing. I think visually, Rayman Origins is the prettiest looking platformer ever and it's cool looking in its own right. The gameplay is spot on with each jump that you make. Oh and after you beat the game, go for all the unlockables! If you're a fan of platformers, or just want a solid, visually stunning game to play, give Rayman Origins a try.
